A Little Moore: October in the Works

An English-inspired courtyard in Warren, wood samples in Snowmass, and the latest antique finds at ROWEAM.

This month, our Warren Operator House is getting closer to welcoming visitors, we’re sharing a first look at our Snowmass Log Cabin, and a new collection has arrived at ROWEAM. There’s also a November sourcing trip on the calendar. Here’s a little of what we’ve been working on.

Taking Shape: Warren Operator House

Our Warren Operator House, a historic former telephone operator building, is becoming a place to experience the different parts of Moore House together: a ROWEAM shop downstairs, guest accommodations upstairs, and interiors by Moore House Design throughout.

Upstairs, the flooring and painting are complete, lighting has been selected, and we’re sourcing furniture for the guest spaces. We want the rooms to feel comfortable and collected, with pieces that make settling in for a weekend feel easy.

Downstairs, we’re refining the shop layout, thinking through how visitors will move through the space and discover the furniture and objects.

Outside, the brick walkway is finished, and the gardens and landscaping are nearly complete. Japanese holly, boxwoods, and Blair’s favorite groundcover, pachysandra, are bringing our little English-inspired courtyard to life alongside pieces from ROWEAM. We’ve also planted Boston ivy, with the hope that it will climb across the whole building over the next few years. Some parts of a project are worth waiting for.

First Look: Snowmass Log Cabin

We’re sharing the latest renderings of our Snowmass Log Cabin, a full-service interior design, renovation, and furnishings project in the Aspen area.

With the final design drawings complete, we’re working closely with the project team to get the materials right, particularly the wood finishes that will run throughout the house.

We’re currently on our fourth round of wood samples, going back and forth with vendors and makers to get those relationships just right. Each finish needs to work alongside the others, and the architect, builder, makers, and our design team all need to be working toward the same result.

That collaboration has been one of the most rewarding parts of this project. Every round brings useful conversations and a clearer shared understanding of what we’re creating. We’ve taken to calling this group the dream team, and they’re certainly living up to the name.

The renderings show where we’re headed. The sampling is how we get there.
