We’re coming up on Thanksgiving, but we’re recent converts to the camp getting a jump on our holiday shopping early so we can really enjoy the season for all its festivities. As usual, we’ve made a list (and checked it twice) of some of our favorite things that make unique gifts for the people you love. From the design enthusiast to the local shopper we’ve done our best to cover all the bases. Happy perusing!

No. 02 — For the Local Shopper…

We’re big on getting our shopping done in a day’s walkabout, so we’ve done the hard work for you by racking our brains to gather some of the local artisans, shops and restaurants we’ve stumbled upon via social media or our travels and totally fallen in love with. If you’re in the camp of shopping local this holiday season, stop in and say g’day, or shop their online stores for unique pieces you won’t find elsewhere — oh, and don’t forget to tell them who sent you in their merry direction!!

  1. O&G Studio@oandgstudio
This list would be incomplete without a feature of our friends over at O&G Studios. O&G Studio designs and manufactures furniture that defies time and tradition, including the most extensive and evocative line of hand built Windsor chairs on the market. With a commitment to honor and build upon American design traditions, they look to the past for inspiration and reinvent the classics for contemporary living. The studio was founded by Jonathan Glatt and Sara Ossana, two friends who met as graduate students at RISD! O&G has been designing and producing modern heirloom pieces in Rhode Island since 2009. The studio celebrates the rich history of design in New England and continues the legacy, while creating work that is new, surprising and uniquely its own.

Each season’s offerings are distinct and inspired by the land and seascapes of her chosen home of Newport, Rhode Island. Jane’s mission as an artist is to create work that touches beyond the walls they hang — to use her art to help those in need, and to support our incredible environment. Put simply, she strives to “create art for the good”. She named her business "Charlie Lou" after her paternal & maternal grandfathers ‘Charlie’ & ‘Lou’ — who both passed away while Jane was starting her adventure as an artist. Jane feels that her family saw her artistic potential long before she ever did so naming her business for her support system just felt right. She creates a variety of different kinds of art including everything from water colors to block prints.

She uses a mixture of mediums; wood burning, painting, and illustration to convey feelings of exploration, comfort, and women’s empowerment. Drawing from her years of teaching yoga, sam utilizes her knowledge of the body to design art that evokes a feeling of movement and life. She works to blur the line between body and nature. \

That wraps up our picks for this year. We must admit, we can’t wait for next year’s guide… You may be thinking to yourself, “why, you just gave us this one?” and though you’re totally right, and we may be losing the plot over here — well, next year’s guide will be extra special because it will be the first to include products from our Ecomm shop! We know that’s a long way away (and we’re currently very busy working out the kinks in production) but the prospect of being able to let you all shop our store next year is simply incredible! Moore* updates on that to come soon, we promise. As always, thanks for reading + shopping — we hope you enjoyed it!
